This post is long over-due and I apologize for not having written it sooner.
as you probably might have noticed, the thaana keyboard currently only works on 4.0x and 4.1x firmware. However since then, apple has released a major firmware update in the form of 4.2.1. This update include a tonne of changes, including changes to the default fonts, font-handling and keyboard configurations. This inadvertently has broken both our thaana fonts package as well as thaana keyboard package. So right now, the keyboard does not work for 4.2+.
The good news is that it IS possible to get it back up and running without too much effort.
however the bad news is that I am currently using an non-factory unlocked iPhone 4 (as is afxal). As of now, there is no unlock for the iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 firmware. Hence I am unable to update my phone to the newest firmware.
The bottom line is that until I can run 4.2+ firmware on my device, I cannot update the packages. I sincerely apologize for this. Hopefully, the dev-team will come out with some good news soon.
P.S - Some of you have asked if I stopped working on these projects because of what happened with eLL Mobile. This is not the case.
P.P.S - yes eLL, I know you have been emailing people looking for updates.

That's cool. The font isn't so hard to get working. I'm glad somebody else is taking an initiative.

the keyboard however... is a different story. That requires some tedious work.
i duno much the technical side here. As long as i can use the stuffs released, i wudnt care :D

ReplyDeletefor the time being, we're skipping 4.2x (because we skipped 4.2 to update our devices directly to 4.3)... We will however hopefully be able to 4.2 sometime in the future (don't want to leave 3G users in the dust)

ReplyDeletehey im sorry but. last night ive been trying to get dhivehi translation on my iphone 3g v4.2.1.
ReplyDeletebut the problem is even after installin the dhivehi for alquran and the thana fonts for os4x, alquran didnt show dhivehi text, but those unrecognised font boxes.
so i tried to install dhivehi font for ios4.2.1 from jaxian(which i had before and worked perfectly on safari)but it cannot be installed. an error says something conflicting overwrite which is also present in thana fonts. so i removed dhivehi for ... and thana... dhen installed idhivehiv4.2.1beta and tried installin the other two. dhivehi for alquran was success but not the thana. it shows error about some conflict in overwrite with idhivehi.
tried severaltimes over and over. but couldnt.
if u have any solution would u pls help. AFTER ALL YOU TOLD THAT YOU WOULDNT WANT IPHONE3G USERS TO END UP IN DUST
I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. The thing about the fonts is that Ian (jaxian)'s font pack doesn't have system wide unicode support like ours. His thing is perfectly fine if you want to view websites and stuff in mail, safari etc..but anything outside that won't work. Our older font-pack for 4.1x won't work on 4.2 because apple changed the font system in 4.2 ... so we have to re-do the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteI have been promising myself to release an update for 4.21 and 4.3 for ages now, but haven't been able to get around to it, mostly because of my schedule these days (i am studying for a masters degree)

thanks for the heads up Maaidh. Glad to see somebody picking up the slack. I actually do have working versions of the keyboard for 4.2, 4.3 and so on. I held them back for some personal reasons. I noticed you have some irregularities with the keyboard's font display. use my fonts if you like.
